What started out as a wild afternoon of heavy rain and thunderstorms changed the event schedule several times this past Saturday at Flying Dog Brewery Summer Sessions. Around 4 PM it was announced that doors would open at 5, Peoples Blues Of Richmond would be scratched (unfortunately because folks were really looking forward to seeing them) and Galactic would start at 6.

The storms did everything but cancel the show and did not deter fans from showing up only to wait in the rain for a good 2 hours before Galactic would take the stage. The eager sold out crowd decked out in rubber boots and slickers waited patiently while filling up on Flying Dog’s assortment of ice-cold beers, chowing food from the 3 local food trucks and chanting the occasional Galactic, Galactic, Galactic.

Around 7 PM a rainbow filled sky would welcome the band to the stage for their extremely funky and powerful 90 minute set that turned out to be well worth the wait. I’m sure I can speak for everyone who stuck it out in the rain, Thank You to Galactic and Flying Dog for sticking through it with us and providing us with a memorable evening of amazing funk, food, and beer in Frederick MD.
